Hygiene
The hygienist is one of the most important people in your dental team. Her role is to be directly involved in treatment of all aspects of the many facets of gum problems. We are particularly proud of our hygienist team members who have unparalleled skill and experience and most importantly have cared and treated for our patients for many years.
Research has now shown that gum disease impacts as a contributing factor in several serious health issues and we take our responsibilities to you very seriously. We encourage everyone to have regular maintenance and monitoring appointments.
The hygienist will clean your teeth and gums and also teach you techniques to help maintain the health of your mouth. The hygienist can spot potential problems and bring them to your attention and to that of your dentist.
Initially your dentist may prescribe an intense course of hygiene therapy followed by visits every three months. Once your hygienist is happy with your dental health these visits can be as few as twice a year, this regime is strongly advised.
The hygienist uses fine instruments or a special ultrasonic machine to remove the hard tartar from below the gum. She will remove plaque, stains and polish your teeth thoroughly.
What are the benefits?
