Tooth whitening treatments
The colour of our teeth is determined by our genes and our age – as we get older our teeth naturally become more yellow. Our lifetyle can also cause teeth to be stained: drinking tea or coffee, smoking or eating strongly coloured food can all contribute to discolouration. At The Ealing Dental Practice we offer a number of treatments that will whiten your teeth and brighten your smile.
We offer two treatments: a home bleaching programme and BriteSmile® – an in-surgery whitening treatment.
BriteSmile®
BriteSmile® is an in-surgery whitening treatment that gives long-lasting results and clinically proven to be safe and effective. Best of all, its quick, requiring a single two hour appointment.

Home bleaching
The British Dental Association recommends that home bleaching treatments are only applied in consultation with your dentist. While kits are available over the counter and via the Internet, these may be unsuitable for you especially if you have gum disease, crowns or the discolouration is a symptom of more serious dental problems.
Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth and make a plastic mould that fits your perfectly. They will then show you how to apply the bleaching gel. You wear the mould overnight and through successive applications your teeth become whiter and whiter.
White fillings
Old amalgam (grey/black) fillings can now be replaced with colour matched mercury free white fillings. These are placed using special adhesives that increase the strength of the heavily filled tooth and eliminate sensitivity. Modern techniques of magnification and lighting used at Ealing Dental mean that only the old filling is removed and maximum sound tooth structure is retained. In the event of the remaining tooth structure being weak porcelain inlays are made ,these are tooth coloured very strong restorations made by our highly skilled dental technician.
Porcelain veneers
Veneers are thin layers of porcelain that clad the surface of the tooth, hiding imperfections such as chips and protecting them from wear.
Sometimes for that especially difficult case, we can even have the veneer or crown finished with our patients present at our ceramic technicians to achieve an exact colour match.
Crowns & bridges
A crowns are special sleeves made of metal or porcelain that are fitted over a damaged or weak tooth. We carefully match the size and shape of the crown so that it will look indistinguishable from your other teeth.
Sometimes for that especially difficult case, we can even have the veneer or crown finished with our patients present at our ceramic technicians to achieve an exact colour match.
